International Graphic Arts Competition ‘’UNA MONTAGNA DI... PASCOLI''

381 artists. 14 countries. 29 art academies.

The second edition of Una Montagna di... Pascoli closed on 10 April 2026 at midnight and the numbers exceeded every expectation. The international competition of graphic and visual art, organised by Forte di Bard with the technical support of Alina Art Foundation and the cultural association Inarttendu as part of the TransiT project, received entries from Italy, Spain, Japan, Iran, Ukraine, Taiwan, South Korea, Mexico and many other countries. The age of participants ranged from 18 to 67 years. The first entry arrived on 19 January. The last one at midnight on 10 April.

The theme of this edition alpine pastures, in homage to the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026 declared by the United Nations generated unexpected responses: visual languages far apart from one another, techniques rooted in different traditions, perspectives coming from latitudes that would never have imagined having anything in common with a mountain in Valle d'Aosta. And yet they did.

The Jury

On 28 April 2026, five professionals gathered in a collegial online session for the final evaluation.

Alice Padovani — artist and visual researcher Adriano Attus — Creative Director Il Sole 24 Ore, artist Andrea Serio — illustrator, Artistic Director of the Scuola Internazionale di Comics, Turin Massimo Rosati — architect, journalist, Director of Design Street Mehiwm Elise — TransiT Project, Forte di Bard

Winners and Finalists

Traditional Drawing 1st Prize — Sara Vettorello "For the ability to transform the theme of the pasture into a contemporary vision where the graphic mark, rendered in a rough and essential manner, encounters a strong poetic tension. A work that evokes the authentic spirit of the mountain."

2nd Prize ex aequo — Alessandra Locatelli "For the originality of the visual language, which combines narrative, memory and landscape in a sequence of intimate and cinematic images. The jury recognises the freshness of the gaze, the pictorial quality and the originality of the narrative theme."

2nd Prize ex aequo — Gloria Rech "For the delicacy with which she approaches the theme through a minimal and silent register, capable of conveying the poetic substance of the rural world. A work that entrusts its evocative power to the nuances of white and grey."

Finalists: Aurora Guazzaroni · Alessandra Locatelli · Debora Surra · Gianfranco Barco · Natasha Panattoni · Gloria Rech · Emanuele Zenere · Pietro Bregni · Martina Legovic · Sara Vettorello

Digital Graphics

1st Prize — Alberto Fiocco "For the extraordinary visual synthesis that recalls the communicative power of 1970s posters. The symbolic embrace between shepherd and animal becomes a powerful emblem of respect and coexistence. The jury recognises the ability to unite a solid iconographic tradition with an immediate graphic language of urgent relevance."

2nd Prize — Giltae Lee "For technique and hyperrealist impact. The work elevates the animal subject to an icon of resistance and dignity. The enigmatic compositional framing, concealing the gaze beneath the fleece, conveys a vision of nature that is simultaneously contemporary and archetypal."

Finalists: Giltae Lee · Mario Barbieri · Alice Sottani · Alberto Fiocco · Diego Monfredini · Emanuela Sandu · Enrica Berselli · Sergio Marques

Graphic Arts

2nd Prize — Antonio Bernardo "For the sensitivity with which the alpine landscape is rendered through an essential and coherent language. The monochromatic choice reinforces the sense of silence and distance. A measured, poetic work of refined compositional balance."

The jury chose not to award the first prize, having not reached unanimous agreement on a work capable of distinguishing itself fully in terms of originality, formal completeness and interpretive strength of the theme.

Finalists: Antonio Bernardo · Debora Antonello · Laura Bertazzoni · Lucia Armeno - Sara Vettorello

Students

1st Prize — Marco Barbagiovanni, Accademia di Belle Arti di Catania "In a sober and evocative black and white, this video captures the very essence of alpine pastures with rare sensitivity. The music accompanies every image and amplifies a universal message. The work conveys an immediate empathy, transforming contemplation into an act of awareness."

Finalists: Andrea Adao (Verona) · Nicole Attiani (Frosinone) · Goyen Chen (Taiwan) · Flavio Bozzato (Venice) · Irene Rosso (Venice) · Filippo Bruno (Turin) · Joey Koka (Bologna) · Beatrice Canova (Venice) · Caterina Pioletti (Turin) · Alessandra Gioia (Venice) · Francesco Luchena (Brera, Milan) · Chiara Rapposelli (Ravenna) · Marco Barbagiovanni (Catania) · Luca Loddo (Turin)

Alina Art Foundation and Inarttendu Merit Prizes

Alina Art Foundation and the cultural association Inarttendu have decided to establish four Merit Prizes of 300 euros each, dedicated to four students from the academies that participated with the highest number of entries. This is not only an individual recognition — it is also a gesture towards the institutions that believed in this project.

Caterina Pioletti — Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti, Turin Alessandra Gioia — Accademia di Belle Arti, Venice Chiara Rapposelli — Accademia di Belle Arti, Ravenna Nicole Attiani — Accademia di Belle Arti, Frosinone
